I was born Elizabeth Ann Holm. At two days old a neighbor suggested that my parents call me Betsy instead of Beth or Liz. The nickame stuck, although I am known as Elizabeth to many in the Las Vegas area.
I was born in Pasadena, CA. into a house with 2 sisters and a brother. I started singing at a very young age, probably because my mother was always singing around the house. My mother, Peggy Lee, was a big band singer in the 1940's. No, not THE Peggy Lee, however, my mom's name REALLY WAS Peggy Lee. So, that's where I get my love for the ol' 40's torch songs.
My big sister, TerriLee Holm, was a huge influence in my musical growth. She is a lead guitar player (besides an amazing artist) and she used to play at all the hot clubs in Hollywood, CA. on the Sunset Strip. So, in awe of my sibling, I asked my mom if I could take guitar lessons. At the age of 12 I began learning to play. Would ya just know it....when I graduated high school I ended up playing in those same clubs as my sister! That's when my love for the original rock scene began.
I furthered my education at Citrus College in Glendora, CA. Citrus had an incredible music program which exposed me to classical, opera, pop and country. The course also focused on acting, musical comedy theater and dance. This all around performance program truly paved the way for my abilities and I consider it responsible for so many of the musical opportunities I've had which include performing in stage musicals and plays like Evita, 42nd Street and The Importance Of Being Earnest to name a few.
After college I went out into the world on my own. I moved to Las Vegas in 1994 and jumped into the music scene immediately. Not just the casino lounge cover bands but the original music venues as well. Songwriting is an enormous part of my music world.
I perform in several different musical projects around Las Vegas including an acoustic guitar single act, jazz duos/trios, rock bands and island shows in which I have the privilege to plays steel drums and congas. I spend a lot of time in the studio as a vocalist for other musician's demos and radio jingles as well as my own original music submissions for T.V. and movies. I've been fortunate enough to have my songwriting featured in movies for CBS and The Lifetime Channel.
Besides the musical side of my life, I have a passion for painting and for sewing quilts that possess personal themes for the recipients of these one-of-a-kind creations. However, most importantly, I am a wife and a mother of 8-year-old twin boys. The incredible support system I have from my family and friends has enabled me to do everything I've mentioned above and I consider myself extremely blessed.
